Geoex MCG, nombrado socio oficial en geociencias de la Semana de la Energía de Venezuela 2026 en una colaboración histórica sobre el subsuelo
Geoex MCG holds a unique position in Venezuela's upstream sector as the sole provider of marine seismic data and the only company operating under a multi-client agreement with the Ministry of Hydrocarbons. Its recently reprocessed marine datasets are currently available for licensing, and plans are underway to acquire new data starting in 2026 to further support exploration and development activities.
The collaboration places a leading provider of geoscientific and geophysical subsurface solutions at the center of the event's technical program, at a time when Venezuela is seeking to rethink its upstream sector narrative around data quality, geological certainty, and the definition of investable resources.
“This collaboration underscores the increasingly important role of subsurface science in shaping investment decisions and operational strategy across Venezuela’s upstream sector,” said James Chester, CEO of Energy Capital & Power. “It brings greater geological and geophysical rigor at a crucial time for the industry, helping to bridge the gap between resource potential and subsurface certainty.”
Geoex MCG's participation is expected to enrich the technical discussions on the evolution of Venezuela's basins, the quality of seismic images, prospectivity assessment, and the development of offshore fields. With its recently reprocessed data, exploration in the underexplored coastal frontier zones can now be evaluated, and images of existing fields, specifically Perla, Río Caribe/Mejillones/Patao/Dragon, and Loran/Cocuina, can be improved.
“Venezuela represents a subsurface province of great importance, where the geological potential is well established but increasingly reliant on modern, high-quality data to unlock its value,” said Robert Sorley, President of Geoex MCG. “Backed by our exclusive multi-client agreement with the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, a growing portfolio of reprocessed datasets in collaboration with DUG Technology, and plans for further acquisitions, our goal is to enable international operators to confidently assess offshore opportunities. We are pleased to support Venezuela Energy Week 2026 to strengthen the technical dialogue and bring greater subsurface clarity to investment and development discussions.”
Geoex MCG specializes in the design and execution of geoscientific surveys, subsurface data acquisition, seismic reprocessing, and project management services, supporting exploration and development activities in the oil and gas, CCUS, natural hydrogen, and other energy sectors. Through its lean asset business model, the company collaborates with selected contractors to deliver tailored underground solutions aligned with clients' technical and commercial objectives.
As Venezuela seeks to attract new international investment, Venezuela Energy Week positions itself as a leading technical and commercial platform where geology, data and capital converge, supporting dialogue on investment frameworks, upstream development and the long-term future of one of the world's largest hydrocarbon resource bases.
